Tuesdays are Always Good
May 15, 2007
After an unfulfilling day driving sandwiches to hungry people for Erbert and Gerbert’s, my day was made much happier via dinner with Molly and a trip for two to Patrick’s on Third for Tuesday Night Trivia.
Trivia
Tuesday night trivia has been a weekly ritual since I moved in with Joe. Every Tuesday at 8 o’clock p.m. we head to Patrick’s for some good food, music, beer, and trivia. First and foremost, trivia is Pat (conveniently working at Patrick’s) reading ten questions from various Trivial Pursuit games each round for five rounds. You fill in the answer sheets and they are corrected by Pat and one of his helpers and scores are read aloud. Rinse, lather, repeat until the five rounds are over. The top three teams win bar tab money in 25, 15, or 10 dollar amounts. There is also the opportunity to win free pitchers of beer during rounds 3, 4, and 5 by answering the special pitcher question right.
Also, Tuesday is Schell’s night at Patrick’s and they have Schell’s beer on sale all day. You can get an August Schell Brewing Company glass full of Schell’s beer for $3 and get it refilled all night for $1.50. Then you bring the glass home with you and keep bringing it back for as many $1.50 refills as you would like. This deal applies with what they call the “Schell’s Seasonal” and Schell’s Original. The seasonal changes every two months or so. Tonight saw the beginning of Zommerfest as the Maifest ran out.
They keep a running total of scores through each “season” and then the top team is taken on a complimentary tour of the August Schell Brewery. This is the end of our third season and we never quite finished on top. We took sixth overall the first season, second overall the second season, and I honestly don’t recall what we took the third season. This season is yet to be determined.
To keep a running total of scores, you’re obviously supposed to use the same team names each week. Through the four seasons of trivia, ours so far have been:
Little Urban Achievers, Robot Boner, Ah-ga-halla-nah, and The Al Franken-Steins
Tonight was fun, albeit very slow due to the 71 (that’s right, seventy one) teams that were in the bar.
